Born in Buenos Aires, Argentina on 12/23/65, Ignacio Gurruchaga begins his studies in Basic Photography at the Fotoclub de Gimnasia y Esgrima, in the Argentinean capital. At just fifteen years of age, he won second place in an annual student contest at the club, and, ended in third place in the general ranking of the same club the following year.
In the 80’s his work takes him throughout Latin America and Argentina, and his efforts quickly lead to a position with the established staff at the editorial, covering headline assignments such as Pope John Paul II’s visit to Argentina in 1987, and the arrival of American troops to Bolivia to assist that nation in its fight against drug trafficking, as ordered by then president Ronald Reagan and based in the city of Trinidad, in the Bolivian jungle.

In 1990 he begins his career as an independent photographer and, works with magazines like HOLA, from Spain and Soccer Striker from Japan, to mention a few of the most important international publications.
In the early 90’s he became the Publicity Manager for LANART, proprietary owners of name brands such as Sergio Tacchini, Fila, and Dunlop. This experience with publicity allows him, as of 1993, to produce spectacular advertising campaigns as a publicity photographer for brands like Mango, Motor Oil, Diesel, Soviet, Gatopardo, and Angelo Paolo.
In 1995 he travels the entire county accompanying Professor José Bonaparte, recipient of a National Geographic scholarship for eighteen years due to his stupendous Pale ontological studies. He was co-founding partner of Buenos Aires Color, a professional lab, until he emigrated to the United States in 1995. Based in Miami, he has been a correspondent for Editorial Atlántida and Diario Clarín, and is founder, shareholding partner and director of District Lab, a professional lab of outstanding quality in Miami. Due to its quality and printing services, District Lab became the finest lab for artistic photography.

In December 2007, Ignacio founded “in-dependent”, an art gallery specialized in photography located in Wynwood Art District, Miami Florida.
